Google's Dreambeans AI app has arrived in India

Google has launched its AI story-generation app Dreambeans in India, marking its first market expansion outside the United States.

Available on Android and iOS, the application integrates with connected Google services—including Gmail, Photos, Calendar, and YouTube—to automatically generate personalized, illustrated stories without manual prompts, while supporting 13 local languages alongside English.

The implementation process and expansion in India

The app was initially launched in the US in June and expanded to all eligible users over 18 in September. In India, Dreambeans supports 13 local languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali, in addition to English.

According to a Google executive, India was chosen due to the high interest and frequent use of the company's services by the same audience. In the US, however, data shows that the app has recorded about 55.000 downloads since June, with the majority occurring in September, while downloads decreased significantly in October.

How Dreambeans works

The tool leverages information from connected services like calendar, email, photos, searches, videos, and Google's artificial intelligence capabilities. It recently added a feature that animates images in select stories.

However, users can only select one language at a time and cannot create stories that combine multiple languages ​​together.

Data control and restrictions

Because the app connects to personal services, Google offers privacy management options. Users can choose which services to connect, disconnect them at any time, and delete their data from within the app. The company said that any data deleted from core services is automatically removed from the app's system.

At the same time, users can define topics they want the app to avoid, such as professional issues or topics concerning loved ones who have passed away. It is noted that the app only works with personal accounts and not with corporate ones, while the stories produced are visible exclusively to the account holder.
