Convert iPhone HEIC Photos to JPG Before Uploading to a Youth Soccer League Registration

Youth soccer league registration forms usually ask for a headshot of your child for the roster, the team page, and the coach's contact sheet, and many league portals only accept JPG uploads. iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, so a perfectly good photo can be refused with a vague "invalid file type" message right when you are trying to finish the registration.

  1. Keep the HEIC original
Do not overwrite your original. Convert a copy for the registration and keep the HEIC master, in case the league later asks for a clearer photo for player cards or the season program.

  2. Do not just rename it to .jpg
Renaming changes the extension, not the contents. The file will still be HEIC data, and the portal will still reject it.

  3. Convert a copy to JPG for the registration
If you need a JPG quickly, you can convert HEIC photos to JPG for youth soccer league registrations entirely in the browser: the conversion happens on your own device, nothing is uploaded, and no account is needed. Then check the JPG preview before submitting — confirm your child's face is clearly visible and the photo is the right way up.

That is the whole fix: one converted copy, uploaded as JPG, and the registration goes through. If the portal also has a file-size limit, compress the JPG copy rather than cropping your child's face out of the frame.
