A Simple Pre-Launch Security Checklist for PHP Apps

2026-11-03来源 dev.to PHPEnglish

A small pre-launch review can catch avoidable problems before a PHP app goes live. Use this checklist for applications you own or are authorized to maintain.

  1. Remove development leftovers. Turn off debug output in production, remove test routes and sample credentials, and keep configuration secrets out of the code repository.
  2. Update dependencies. Review the packages your app uses, update supported versions, and remove libraries the app no longer needs.
  3. Protect user input. Validate data on the server, use parameterized database queries, and escape output for the context where it appears. Add CSRF protection to state-changing forms.
  4. Check access and sessions. Require authorization on sensitive actions, use secure session settings over HTTPS, and apply multi-factor authentication to administrative accounts where available.
  5. Plan for failure. Keep backups, test that you can restore them, log security-relevant events without recording passwords or tokens, and know how to report an issue.

This is a starting checklist, not a substitute for a security review. Test only systems you own or have clear permission to assess.
