A CSS bug that wasn't CSS

Spent an afternoon on a layout bug that turned out to be a data issue. One list item had an empty string where the backend expected null, and the UI rendered a zero-height element that shifted everything by four pixels.

CSS looked correct, DOM looked correct, only the data was wrong. Now I check the payload before the stylesheet, which sounds obvious and wasn't.
