A 3-email overdue invoice sequence (copy/paste) + a one-sheet tracker

Chasing payments as a freelance/dev contractor is worse than the bug that caused the invoice.

Here’s the sequence I reuse:

Day 0 (due date): Confirm they got it. Invoice #, amount, due date, pay link. One question: “Any blocker on AP?”

Day +7: Same facts + days overdue. Ask for a payment date or the right finance contact.

Day +14: Pause new work until settled. Still short and factual — no apology essay.

I keep status in a simple Excel aging sheet so nothing slips.
